Galeries Lafayette
Dating from 1893, the Galeries Lafayette department store is a lavishly decorated atrium structure. The staff were impeccably dressed, and lots of interesting merchandise was on offer on all floors.

The stained glass ceiling is especially colorful.

Champs Élysées
The Avenue des Champs Élysées is a wide boulevard that is home to lots of shopping opportunities. There are lots of great old buildings on the Champs Élysées. The one shown below had an Apple store on the ground floor.

Rolling broadly out from the Tuileries Garden, the Champs Élysées ends at the Arc de Triomphe. This area is a bustling hub with 12 avenues radiating out from the arch like the spokes of a wheel.

La Défense
La Défense is a major business district just west of Paris. There are lots of stores and big office buildings. The most imposing of them is La Grande Arche de la Défense, an enormous cube-shaped structure with a height of 110 meters (361 feet). We took the elevator to the top and took in the views.
